Humor and Lightness

"A cheerful heart is good medicine."

— Proverbs 17:22

God of joy,

Life is sometimes so serious, so heavy. I take myself too seriously, I dramatize, I worry about everything. I have forgotten how to laugh freely, how to take things lightly.

Teach me healthy humor, the kind that relaxes without hurting, that puts things in perspective without minimizing. The ability to laugh at myself, at my mistakes, at my imperfections. A laugh that liberates and heals.

May I rediscover this lightness of being, this ability to not dramatize everything. Life is hard enough without me adding to it. A little humor can transform a day.

Amen.

Reflection

When did you last laugh, really laugh? Today, actively seek something that makes you smile. Humor is a form of grace.

For all those who have lost the ability to laugh and take life lightly.
