Honesty

"Speaking the truth in love."

— Ephesians 4:15

God of truth,

I sometimes tend to silence what should be said, out of fear of hurting, disturbing, or displeasing. But this false harmony builds superficial relationships.

Give me the courage of honesty. To say what needs to be said, to name problems, to express my needs and limits. Not with brutality, but with clarity and kindness.

May my honesty serve the relationship, not my anger. May I speak truth that builds, that enlightens, that brings closer. An honesty that respects the other while asserting myself.

Amen.

Reflection

Is there something important you need to say to someone? How could you say it with honesty and kindness?

For those who remain silent and for those who speak too harshly.
