Father Figures
"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."
— Psalm 103:13
Heavenly Father,
Today, I think of the father figures who have marked my life. My father, my grandfathers, my mentors, all those who played this role of guide, protector, example.
Thank You for their presence, their support, their wisdom. Thank You for the lessons they passed on to me, for the love they gave, sometimes clumsily but sincerely.
For those whose father was absent or hurtful, I pray: heal these wounds, fill these gaps. Be for them the Father they never had. And help each one become, in turn, a caring presence for others.
Amen.
