The Legacy of Ancestors
"Honor your father and your mother."
— Exodus 20:12
God of history,
I am the fruit of a long lineage. My ancestors lived, loved, suffered, hoped so that I exist today. I owe them life and so many other things.
Thank You for these ancestors. For their courage in adversity, for their perseverance, for the legacy they passed on to me. They live in me in a certain way.
May I honor their memory. By living well, by transmitting their values, by being a good ancestor for those who will come.
Amen.
