The Legacy of Ancestors
"Honor your father and your mother."
— Exodus 20:12
God of history,
I am the fruit of a long lineage. My ancestors, known and unknown, lived, loved, struggled so that I exist today. I owe them so much.
Thank You for these ancestors. For their courage, their perseverance, their love. For the legacy they passed on to me: values, a history, an identity.
May I honor their memory. By living well, by passing on in turn, by being a good ancestor for those who will come after me.
Amen.
