Open-Mindedness

"Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly."

— John 7:24

Lord of light,

My prejudices limit me. They make me put people in boxes, reject new ideas, close the door to what is different. This narrow-mindedness impoverishes me.

Open my mind. Help me see beyond appearances, listen to perspectives different from mine, question my certainties. May I remain curious, humble, ready to change my mind.

May my open-mindedness not be naivety but discernment. Capable of welcoming the new without losing my bearings, of listening without necessarily agreeing, of understanding without necessarily approving.

Amen.

Reflection

What prejudice or certainty could you question? What different perspective could you explore with openness?

For those locked in their certainties and for greater mutual understanding.
