Self-Control
"But the fruit of the Spirit is... self-control."
— Galatians 5:22-23
Lord,
I live in a world of excess, of consumption, of seeking immediate pleasures. I can easily be swept away: eating too much, spending too much, consuming too much screen time, working too much.
Teach me self-control, that right measure which respects my needs without falling into excess. Help me enjoy the good things of this world in moderation, without being enslaved by them, without losing my freedom.
May I find the balance between pleasure and discipline, between satisfying my desires and respecting my limits. Grant me the ability to taste life fully without losing myself in it.
Amen.
